On
this day we pay tribute to the Heroes of
old, saviours Azeroth. Those who sacrificed
everything so that the Light may continue
to shine upon our world. Without them, darkness
would surely have prevailed.
We
reconize Grand Marshal Garithos, hero
of the war against the Scourge.
In the aftermath of Arthas the Betrayers
destruction, Grand Marshal Garithos rose
up to unite the scattered Alliance forces
in a daring campaign to hold off the undead
pouring through the Plaguelands and retake
Lordaeron. In a cunning stage of small
but bloody encounters he was able to destroy
a significant amount of the undead forces.
Unfortunately for the brave Grand Marshal,
he was betrayed by the elven allies lead
by Prince Kael.
The Blood Elves had the prestigious task
of rebuilding watch towers to help prepare
the Grand Marshal's army for the Scourge
counter-attack. Instead of finishing the
watch towers as ordered the Blood Elves
threw their oaths to the Alliance away
and joined the foul Naga in their blasphemous
search for supreme magical power. When
the Scourge attack came Garithos' men
were caught off guard and suffered terrible
casualties and had no choice but to hold
themselves off in Lordaeron.
It was in Lordaeron where Garithos met
his end. With a crippled army and hundreds
of human refugees he was approached by
the Banshee Queen Sylvanis and given the
choice to either join her in destroying
the Dreadlords of the Scourge or face
certain doom. It was a choice the Grand
Marshal made for the good of his people
and the hope of saving Lordaeron.
Grand Marshal Garithos accepted Sylvanis
offer and was instrumental in the defeat
of the Dreadlord Detheroc. However upon
celebration of their victory the Grand
Marshal was betrayed! Lady Sylvanis turned
on Garithos and his men and slew them
all. Only proving the late Grand Marshal's
personal creed to "Never trust an elf!"
The Grand Marshal left behind eight children
and two mistresses. On this day, we salute
this hero of the Alliance, may his memory
live on forever and be a testiment to
honor and bravery!
