Invasion!

Senior correspondant Wulf Blizzerg reporting live from the border of Blackrock Mountain where the Cadian forces have just crossed into Blackrock territory. I am currently imbedded within the 1st Steam Tank company as they make their way to the Dark Iron Gate and into the bowels of Blackrock Mountain. Earlier today at 3:47 AM Stormwind time, the order was given by the High Inquisitor herself that the invasion into Blackrock Mountain was to proceed. I cannot reveal precise numbers at risk of being burnt at the stake, however at least several companies of Steam Tanks has been mobalized and are currently headed towards the mountain.

Information Minister Lashan of Blackrock Mountain concured with early reports of Cadian forces at the inner ring of Blackrock Mountain, but denied any presence of Cadian special forces operating within Blackwing Lair itself. After being asked about Blackrocks response to the Cadian presence inside the Inner Ring of Blackrock Mountain, Minister Lashan laughed and informed the press that "No response is necessary, they are commiting sucicide by the hundreds".

When asked to elaborate the Information Minister revealed images -of questionable quality- displaying soldiers of an unknown force sucicidally hurling themselves into the lava lake at the bottom of Blackrock Mountain. The most disturbing elemental of the pictures is the recklessness of those in the images. Every person shown in the image is hurling themselves down with little to no regard for saftey precautions such as Parachute Cloaks or other Slow Fall mechanisms. It is still unclear as to whether these soldiers are indeed Cadians or possibly another less experienced military organization.

A great deal has transpired since the Firemaw incident. Wulf Blitzerg is already compiling a full report, but until then, I'll leave you with these few images.

Prelude to War
10/12/05 - Posted by: Wulf Blitzerg

Further evidence of the upcoming war has been revealed last night as Deputy-Commander Atretes of the Cadian forces touched down at Thorium Point and began briefing troops. When approached for an interview the Deputy-Commander declined to comment saying only “The war will begin once the High Inquisitor has decided”. When this will be, still remains to be seen.

The High Inquisitor and the other Inquisitorial staff have been holding the cards close to their chest as to when the exact date of the invasion will begin. Sources close the Inquisitors have said this is due to the desire for a ‘shock and awe’ campaign against Blackrock Mountain. The desire to catch the mountainous nation off guard is great and could very well be one of the key components to ensuring a quick and virtually bloodless campaign.

However due to recent actions by the Blackrock nation, this is becoming a less likely possibility. Information Minister Lashan of Blackrock Mountain has openly declared ‘terrible consequences’ and ‘thousands upon thousands of casualties’ should the Cadian forces invade. The Cadian command has not ruled out the possibility of Lord Victor Nefarius calling forth the application of WCDs (Weapons of Chromatic Destruction) or other biological agents. Should Lord Victor Nefarius make use of such weapons, it is unclear how the Security Council would respond. GIS research teams suggest the use of biological or chromatic agents are ‘about 50/50’. Their use could turn the war in the favor of either side. If used against Cadian, it could very well stop the war in the short term. However it could also bring forth sanctions and call forth a Stormwind Military presence within the mountain.

With forces rumored to be spread thin as it is, Lord Bolvar Fordragon has been keen to avoid any confrontation that may call into question the exact whereabouts of the Stormwind Military. Magistrate Soloman of the town of Lakeshire has been a stern critic of Stormwind’s inaction.

“I fail to see what can possibly be more important than the Blackrock Menace? Clearly the orcs mean war, we have all seen the Windsor Report!” Magistrate Soloman continues to press the issue regardless of the dismissals by the House of Nobles. The Magistrate has much to loose. Situated so close to Blackrock Mountain, in the event of an invasion Lakeshire would be the first line of defence.

Rising Tensions

Late this evening Chief Engineer Fire of the Gnomish Weapon Inspection unit reported that her team sent by Stormwind Security Council was turned away by Firemaw at the entrance to the Blackrock Chemical Labs.

This will no doubt lead to an escalation in tension between the Stormwind Security Council and the regime of Blackrock Mountain lead by "Lord" Victor Nefarious. High Inquisitor Cydel of the Cadian Crusade has been a vocal opponent of the Blackrock Regime and has voiced her intention to "liberate the people of Blackrock Mountain from the tyrannical dictator". It is expected that once the House of Nobles reconvienes on Thursday, High Inquisitor Cydel will press for a military solution, a regime change, against the nation of Blackrock Spire.

Hostilities between the nation of Stormwind and Blackrock Mountain initially erupted during the assassination attempt against High Lord Bolvar Fordragon and young Prince Wrynn. Intelligence provided by SI:7 and GIS indicated that the Broodmother of the Black Flight, Lady Onyxia was supplying Lord Victor Nefarious with integral components necessary in the development Weapons of Chromatic Destruction (WCDs) for use against the nation Stormwind.

While no WCDs have been found to date in the Laboratories of Upper Blackrock, the High Inquisitor has stated publicy that she is "convinced" that Lord Victor Nefarious is trying to hide evidence of his on-going weapons project.

Information Minister Lashan of Blackrock Mountain expressed "dissapointment" at the High Inquisitors comments and expects a diplomatic resolution to the current "misunderstanding" at the Blackrock Chemical Labs.

The House of Nobles entered into an emergency session this morning as the Stormwind Security Council began making its recommendations as to how the tension in Blackrock Mountain could be resolved. The House heard from GIS Director Fizban who presented strong evidence of a growing Chromatic Weapons facility in the upper reaches of the Blackrock Spire.

Blackrock Information Minister Lashan strongly denied all evidence of a growing weapons program calling the reports "foolish", "ridicules", "lame" and a "justification for an immoral war on the Blackrock people".

"I have detailed information about the laboratories [alleged WCD] which completely proves that what they allege are illusions. She [High Inquisitor Cydel] lies every day."

The Information Minister also warned that should the Cadian forces be deployed against the Blackrock Nation they would suffer "immeasurable casualties" and face a "defeat, the likes have never been seen!"

The emergency session is expected to continue into the next week as representatives of the Cadian Pacification force present their strategy in the event a militaristic solution be deemed necessary.

In her most compelling argument to date, High Inquisitor Cydel flatly denounced the regime of Blackrock, accusing Lord Victor Nefarious of being a "heretic and blasphemer under the the watchful gaze of the Light!".

Further adding to complications, the High Inquisitor revealed that GIS operatives have confirmed that Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood belonging to legendary hero of the Alliance, Anduin Lothar, is currently in the possession of Lord Victor Nefarious himself. The sacred blade and relic of the great wars belongs to the Alliance, not a member of the fanatical Black Dragonflight argued Cydel.

Blackrock Information Minister Lashan flatly rejected the GIS claims. "Tell me, did these little people enter our sacred halls through mouse holes? I think not. They know nothing of the sanctum of our beloved Lord and Spiritual leader, Victor Nefarious! These claims are nothing more than outrageous poposterous nonsense!"

Additional updates coming as we recieve them, stay tuned for further details.
